Want to Trade- Street Triple R for Hyperstrada

Greetings all!

I realize I am completely new here. I am looking to trade my 2013 Street Triple R for a 2013+ Hyperstrada. My bike has 3,900 miles. Never tracked. Never been drown and never dropped. She has always been garage kept. I am the original owner. She's completely stock.

Me: I have a long inseam and I'll be 34 soon. I'm looking for something more comfortable on my knees. Something I can do some light touring. I have never owned a Ducati but have always wanted one. I have posted a similar offer to Trackday Junkies on Facebook. I am located in Charleston, WV. I am willing to travel as necessary to make the deal happen.

I can take as many photos as anyone would like. Hopefully I'll be a hyperstrada owner soon. I would appreciate any assistance or anyone posting this elsewhere as I am serious.

Thanks,

Wannabe-Hyperstrada Owner

Your Triumph is a fine bike. I hope you'll find a Hyper owner willing to trade, but it seems to me the majority of us don't want to give them up. Have you inquired about trading it in? That typically means taking a bath, but it's at least worth exploring.

Thanks for responding BelloStrada. I'm equally pleased to hear that you guys love them so much and equally disappointed for obvious reasons! I have found a place in TN, quite farm from me, with a white 2013 NEW hyperstrada that they cannot sell. They are asking $9,999 for it, and I'm sure they are losing money. This does not include the $700 or so fee for set up and freight. They have offered to give me $6,000 for my bike, which I believe is fair considering it's a dealership. I am thinking about doing that if I cannot find an individual who wants to trade. With the extra fees, that would still leave me with about a $5k difference. A little off topic, but what's your thoughts on this?

That sounds like a pretty good deal especially if it's not a demo model and you get the full 2 year warranty. The other route is craigslist - you meet the most interesting people!

I think so too appliance 821. My recollection is that it had about 120 miles. It is considered new and does come with the two year warranty. Although, I'm starting to think that I should be aiming for a 2014 one since they apparently had less problems. Any thoughts on this?

I'd buy a low miles demo for that price. Only caution is the luggage- if they left them on and sitting in the sun, they'll be the color of elephant hide. I'd haggle in a new set, if that's the case. Rest of materials hold up fine in the sun.

Good point re luggage. From the photos it looks pristine though. So should I get over my fears of getting a 2013 over a 2014? (I wasn't paranoid until I came here and saw some people complaining specifically about the 2013)

It is the same bike. They did update the throttle spring but if this bike is affected it's a free recall replacement. I would have them check carefully to see if the throttle recall is pertinent to your bike. The other issues were the head bearing seal, and an ecu update for low rev surging.

My 2013 has been flawless excepting a recent throttle issue which was quickly rectified under recall.

The short answer is - I wouldn't worry about more issues on the 13 vs the 14. They're solid machines.

jdot, I concur with appliance821 - there is no issue of whether it's a '13 or '14, as long as the updates/recalls are carefully checked and corrected. It's the same bike.

A "new" 2013 at that price with a full warranty is quite a deal...I'd seriously contemplate it! But as @gatdammit warned, be sure the luggage is like new. My Hyper is a 2015, so I believe most of the "issues" of the earlier models have been rectified. But hey, at that price and a full warranty, you'd be crazy to pass it up. On the west coast that bike would be sold in exactly .1 seconds at that price.
