2013 821 Oil Leaks

OK guys, I'll be going back into the dealer with a slight issue here ! two oil leaks, one of which i have seen on the forum, the other I have not. Let me know thoughts, 1800 miles to date. 600 mile service, the bolt weeping was noted.

1. Weeping oil on Left Side head bolt — Left side, rear stud bolt is weeping oil, gathering at base engine just above shifter linkage.

2. Weeping Oil onto exhaust - front, right side oil leak, dropping onto front section of exhaust, causing a little bit of smoke when it drops onto the hot exhaust - lovely!

Just noticed this on mine. Hitting the exhaust is a nice touch. I'll be bringing it in for them to check. Do you go to riverside or cycles 128?

I hate oil leaks. Do the head bolts have crush washers? I don't think they would have removed those for 600 mi service. Hopefully they did and got careless on installation.

Maybe they screwed up the gasket off the line?

I go to riverside and they did indicate when taking a quick look about 2 months ago that it will depend on Ducati's tech/warranty group whether they take apart to replace gasket and o-ring for that head bolt versus a new motor drop in to save on labor!

As a side note I also recently visited Cycles 128 , seems like they are under new management , have a ton of Ducati inventory - not sure how well they are known- giant showroom which is great.

a new engine vice some new gaskets?! I'd petition to keep the old engine. Man what I would do with this little 821 gem...

Brought it by Riverside - going to give it to them tomorrow. Also have them look at the front brake scrape sound. With this stuff and the gas tank farts - it's one busy little machine.

Cycles 128 owns everything in grater Boston except Riverside. Bought my cb500f from them and they were OK. Riverside offered me a very sweet deal on this bike so I couldn't say no.

Unless you swap to EBC pads, get used to the grinding sound from front rotors. It's a waste of time having them swap rotors and stock pads. Farts are normal.

Could you please tell me which EBC pads? I am tired of the shitty grinding and squealing.

It's normal for this bike - and not safety related - just an interesting collection of sounds - doubt Honda would let it all slide - might be wrong.

Regarding the oil dripping on the exhaust pipe - it was just a slightly leaking oil filter gasket. The wind would blow it to the rear and it dripped on the pipe. Issue resolved here - hope it's not more serious for others.
