I am new to this forum and also very new driving a Ducati Hypermotard SP.(previously drove BMW GS for many years!)

It is a brand new bike, only 2500km on it...

But I have some issues with it, it is the front brakes! When I brake, then I have to pull quite deep, if I release it and quickly pull the handle again, then the brakes hit very early and aggressive! Meaning that the pressure seems to increase or something... so the brake point is different (earlier and harder) the second time I pull the handle. This happens all the time...

I have been to the dealer, they have checked the possibility of air in the brake system, but negative. They are claiming it is "normal" with the HyperMotard... hmmm.. hard to believe to be honest!

Can someone else confirm this behavior or tell me this is NOT normal??? When I am driving fast thru the Austrian/German/Italians alps then I would like trusty and good brakes!! :-)

Any help would be appreciated!

Best Regards

My 2014 Ducati Hyperstrada does the same thing. Changed pads, it helped a bit but not a fix.
Took the dealer around the showroom pulling on different brake levers. Most of the ducati's felt mushy & inconsistent, Most of the BMW's felt good. He could feel the difference but was not very interested in finding a fix for the ducati. Told him I didn't care about the warranty just tell me how or what to do to fix it. I'll paid for it. They don't know I guess.

Got the same thing/feeling with my front brakes. I can feel it even when the bike is standing still.

Dunno exactly what's wrong with yours, but my Strada's brakes do not "pump up" like that. Probably air in there somewhere.

Only time I had those symptoms was right after I bled and serviced the brakes. Had some air in it. Bled some more and they were perfect again. I think the front brakes are fantastic on this bike. EBC pads was all I needed to make them quieter.

Yeah - it sounds like air or water. Might be a seal somewhere - master cylinder?

Ducati made my brakes 2 or 3 times becuse the cylinder was leaking. It was the same feeling every time so I don't think that it is because of air in it.

The front reservoir lid is finicky. My leaked a bit after I flushed it. Had to play with it to get a perfect seal. This would be very noticeable, though.
