Hypermotard/strada or Tiger 800?

I've been eyeing the Triumph tiger 800 (and their street triple) for some time now... but the dealer here doesn't have T800 roadie yet they only have the XC, which to be honest will be a bit too much for me... cause I don't think I will do off road riding. The closest thing to off road will be ride on unpaved road or fire road or road with pot holes

So which one would you get: 2013 Hypermotard/strada or Tiger 800 roadie? and why?
Intended use for daily commute, spirited ride on weekends and 2 up touring.

thanks,
bob

Tiger 800 or Strada ??

I have been waiting for Ducati to bring out a bike like the Hyperstrada for a while, and in the meantime took a test ride on the Tiger 800 last year just to see if I could get on with the riding position etc. The bike is so easy to ride, it took just 5 mins to realise what a good bike it is. Then last month got to sit on the Hyperstrada and sorry to say it is just not doing it for me, I hope to get a test ride in the next month or so, but right now if I do change it will be the MOnster 1100 EVO or the Tiger 800. Tiger is really good value too.

tiger 800 or hyperstrada

Hi
I have a Triumph Tiger 800 at present and it is a great bike, very easy to ride and a good engine. I bought the tiger because I Ducati did not have a mid size bike for touring (the Multisrada 1200 I felt was big for my needs). I have done 2 European tours with the bike, it now has 10000 miles on clock and can fully recommend the bike.
I am intending trading the Tiger for a Hyperstrada. I have a test ride on sunday 14th of April and hopefully I will not be disappointed.

The taste whats look good is dif for all.
Tiger is bigger and heavy if you compair it to Hyperstrada.
It has less HP and torq, but all in all Tiger is a great bike.

It all comes down to what you get.. Bike / money..
When you have tryed them both you know what is + or - for them.

Buddy of mine has an 800XC that I rode for a good 20 minutes once and it was like what you all have said here. Comfortable smooth quiet predictable well engineered heavy and boring it just had no sole it even had Leo Vance cans on it and still had no sole but to each his own.

I had been looking at the Tiger 800 roadie and that is what I was going to buy until Ducati came out with the Hyperstrada. I like the looks of the strada better. Power delivery on the Tiger was smooth and linear but not exciting. Looking at the power curve on the strada, I think it will have that thrill factor. But won't know until I light it up. There is nothing wrong with the Tiger that I see, just my preference for Ducati.

Thanks guys. My sales guy told me that they won't have hyperstrada until June.
Hyperjon, please let us know how the test ride goes.

I could not get over all of the plastic on the Tiger. For me, I preferred the design (and lack of plastic add on pieces) on the Hyper. There is no doubt in my mind for a long, multi- day trip, the Tiger would be more comfortable. I owned a Triumph Daytona (great bike. Triumph makes a great product). If I was planning to take long, long trips, with some dirt fire road riding, I would buy the bmw f800 gs. That was the other bike I was considering. It was a tough decision. After riding the GS, (I still own a f650 gs commuter), I felt the F800 was not going to let me enjoy the twisties like the Hyper. Heavier, with the bike geometry set up for moderate off road riding.
Yeah, your dealer stating the Hyper will arrive in June is my concern.... but, I feel the bike will be worth the wait.

Bob's in Indonesia. I can handle a bump to May from US dealer estimates of April, but June turn my feelings of excitement into "just give me the damn bike so I can leave".
