I Ride: 2013 Ducati Hyperstrada
Hyperstrada purchase advice needed!!!

Gentlemen,
I am looking to get back to my favorite brand - Ducati... Used to own 2011 Monster 796 than switched to 2010 HD V-ROD. Always liked the look of Hyperstrada... Now selling my V-ROD and working with several dealerships on deal for a 2013 Hyperstrada. The question is: did you really have that many problems with your hypers? I mean, I know that some did... I own a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk (one of the most unreliable/bad assembled vehicles our country has ever built) and had ZERO problems other than updates, jove it! Should I hope for the same luck or I will have a dependable motorcycle with great performance and history or a problem child?

I appreciate all inputs! Thank you all in advance!!

Unfortunately, you won't know until you buy it. The numbers are on your side, however, and you probably won't have any issues. If you do, it should be covered under the manufactures warranty.

As I said before, there are far more people with no issues than people who have had issues, so I say go for it. The hyperstrada is a great bike.

I Ride: 2013 Hyperstrada
I just recently bought a 2013 (white) Strada used from Fast By Ferracci (reputable dealer)with 2,000 miles on it. After reading and watching the reviews, I figured what the heck because I still have over a year of factory warranty since the original owner bought it from them new in March of 2014. Even after 2K miles, mine rides, looks and smells like a brand new bike. I also saved some cash since I picked it up for $9500 which included an SP graphic kit and factory heated grips. Great bike... you will absolutely love it because it is such a versatile bike. Enjoy!!

Well, I have heard and read enough! The decision has been made! Now I let's have that trade-in/purchase deal fight! It will be brutal...

Scanner74, what part of VA to you live in? I have a riding buddy of 22 years who lives in Olney, MD and we ride in VA and WV several times a year. I simply cannot wait to get my Strada on Skyline drive/Blue Ridge Pkway and surrounding areas (RT211 and RT 33). I've owned 32 bikes over the past 25 years and the Strada (in my opinion) will be the best type of bike for this area on weekend road trips.

Try to ensure you get a 2014 or 2015 bike. While it woll finally come down to luck, as 2013 was the first year, two mechanics said they see more 2013 bikes with issues. I had a 2013, and it spent 8+ weeks in the summer at the dealer, either being repaired or waiting for parts. Finally, the bike was replaced by Ducati (thank you Ducati!) with a 2014 at no charge, but it did cause a lot of grief and made me miss over 2 months of the best weather.

Still, most fun bike I've ridden, and it's comfortable to boot. If you can get extended warranty, I'd say get it. The parts that were changed on my 2013 over the first summer were over $5k, and I'd hate for this to happen after the warranty runs out.

the only problem i have had with my strada in 7000 miles of pretty much riding it like a madman on the road is a cracked rear wheel spoke.
I had the wheels powder coated and noticed a small blow hole in the spoke about 1mm across .
I thought nothing about it until a few thousand miles and quite a few airborne moments , when i found it had cracked all the way around the spoke.
I took it back to the dealer who got me a new wheel ,which when i looked at it ,had an indent in exactly the same place as the original wheel.
They got me another wheel off a bike in a showroom somewhere and sent my original wheel back to the manufacturers to see why it had cracked.
The manufacturer blamed it on the powder coating process saying that the heating of the wheel had altered the molecular structure of the alloy . Now almost every bike i have owned has had powder coating done with no problems , so i am just hoping it was a bad batch of rear wheel castings.
Other than they the bike has been faultless.
