Lower version of hyperstrada?

Hi Guys,

Does anybody knows if it is posssible to order lower version of hyperstrada? I had a demo test drive and it was a bit unfortable when parking due to seat height. I got info from dealer that hyperstrada is in one size and I can only order lowered seat. Other dealer stated same regarding size but said they can modify/adjust suspension to make it 20 mm lower.

Ducati.com says in tech spec: Seat height 850mm - 830mm (33.5in - 32.7in) Does it mean I can pick one of those size or is it service job to adjust as mentioned by dealer?

I found link below saying that I should have an option to choose size as the lower one needs shorter side and central stand. In this case dealer workshop cannot make it.

"However, the Hyperstrada is also offered in “low version” with shorter suspension front and rear providing a lower seat height of 830 mm. The version includes shorter side and centre stands and considerably enhances sure-footed confidence, especially when combined with the accessory low saddle to achieve a total reduction of 40 mm for an 810 mm seat height."

Please advise as I was going to order one tommorow

Cheers,

Jakub

I heard there can be a low suspension one ordered. I do know there is a low touring seat for the Hyperstrada, which I did try out.

According to my Duc dealer there is not a lower suspension for the Strada. I bought the lower seat and had the dealer adjust the suspension, front and rear. Stock, only my toes could reach the ground. After the suspension was adjusted and the new low seat installed, I can touch ground with the balls of both feet.

I'm worried that lower seat will have negative impact on comfort. This was reason why I sold Gladius. Uncomfortable (hard) saddle made my back hurt after 100 km journey.

I can tell you that like almost all low seats it has a deep valley you must sit in. There was no movement fore or aft. If it works for some people great, it definitely didn't work for me. The problem I have with the stock low touring seat is the same. I need to be able to sit back a couple of inches and have some movement. I tried the Hypermotards SP seat and it's a little flatter, so I ordered one to keep me happy for the time being. It seemed like it didn't change my feet to the ground issue at all. I ride solo, so I don't need a large passenger area on the seat. I need a custom solo seat just for me.

I was pretty sure Duc made a lower version of Strada. They even talk about lower ground clearances on their site with the alternate frame. I would do a search because quite a few members discussed ordering the lowered model after initial test rides over the months.

Just for info, I spoke to the salesman at ducati Manchester about lowered versions of the hyperstrada, he recommended to me the lower seat version for my 5ft 6in height, he also said that there is a lower version of the bike available to order which comprised of a shorter rear shock, shorter side stand and lowered forks, he did not recommend this version for myself as this would also effect the overall geometry . I have yet to demo one of these on the road, but trying one for size at the dealers seemed a tad too tall for my short legs .

What did he mean by affecting geometry? I heard that they shorten fork and spring by 20 mm and that's it. Regarding lower seat the only way they can make it lower is just to reduce capacity of foam/gel or whatever they use to fill saddle. This must affect comfort of rider butt.

low version

Hi
You can order a low version of the hyperstrada, I have one and it does not alter the geometry of the bike. The rear shock is shorter, as are the forks and the stands are shorter to allow for the lower height. The bike has the standard seat supplied giving seat height of 830mm, this can be lowered to 810mm with the lower seat which is an extra.
