Gauging interest in Hyper Lights V2
 
I have had a lot of continued interest in the hypermotard/hyperstrada lights. I having been using V1 for quite a while now with zero issues, but I have a list of improvements that could make it pretty much perfect. These would be implemented in V2.

Of course, there is a fair amount of time and $ investment to make these. The price will be approximately $600 for a totally custom, bike-specific solution. The kit will look similar to V1, but be much easier to install, brighter, more efficient, etc.

A few things.

Junction box will no longer be located on the steering stem - makes wiring easier.
No soldering required, it's all packaged in a nice harnesswith tap connectors.

I will provide a detailed changelog when I get there. The first version works great, but I saw room for improvement! :)

My biggest complaint/fear/concern (no matter how unfounded...lol) was the drilling of the stock headlight for install. I have already had my headlight housing replaced under warranty (which the invoice said it was $800) because the lens cracked after the dealer installed heated grips and didn't put the wiring back right behind the headlight, which stressed the lens, causing a stress crack, over time at the top.

Of course my warranty is up soon, and I have been super careful about the little bit of space behind there, so even if it is a requirement for the best, cleanest install I would probably do it at this point.

Interesting. I went through the bottom of the headlight housing and then drilled a hole in the headlight support. It's really clean.

I still prefer to go through the bottom of the headlight. It's easily accessible, and doesn't touch the wiring harness. It allows you to use the low and high beam signals from the headlight so you can use the stock handlebar switch to control the lights. The difference is now I will use a bulkhead locking connector instead of feeding wires straight through, and use tap connectors inside rather than soldering. It's just way easier for people this way. Then if you decided to uninstall the lights, there is a simple rubber cap to seal the hole.

I remember reading the instructions before, your install is very clean and well thought out. The updates sounds great.

It has been awhile since I read them, but are the lights switchable for off/low/high?

The timing is perfect because I was just looking at the Denali lights from twisted throttle, while less expensive, yours are truly a total package.

Again, very interested.

They match your headlight setting. So they turn off when the bike is off, low beam with your low beam, and high beam with your high beam. No separate switch to fiddle with!
