Not sure if it was said, but aside from noise the valve also works to limit emissions at startup and idling. On many bikes they are also used at the top end to keep noise down. Someone on another forum once told me they are used to create back pressure at startup as well. Not sure I believe that one.

Every other machine I have owned required a servo saver to avoid fault codes. They are around 40-50$. It just plugs right into where the servo was.

I am a crazy person. Disabled the cable and it's like a whole new bike. Mild surging at low rpm in higher gears? Gone. Throttle response? Smooove. Engine braking? Smooove. Basically everything that I found irritating about low rpm riding is gone. Best part is it's super easy to hook back up if you are not a crazy person.

Hi all,

I've disconnected the valve plug just to test before a 3000 km trip... I'will never reconnect it. The sound is louder but that's not worthing it.
What's killing is the smoother motor running at low and medium revs! The riding precision entering (fast) curve is now perfect, the motor breaking is more progressive. You can keep a lower gear for stronger curve exit on very long curve.
The first gear range is widely increase, urban rides are changed.
No change on fuel consumption, still less than 4.5 liter/100km.
Just disconnecting the plug don't produce any error message or anything else, simple.

I Ride: 2015 HyperMotard

Hi guys. Well I wanted to see what all the hoopla was about re; the flapper valve, so I unplugged it and went for a short ride.

Honestly, I didn't notice any difference, not even sound wise. Is it louder? Only the servo motor not going ERRER-REER when turning on the ignition is obvious. I didn't go and roar onto the freeway or anything, just rode a bit on a nearby twisty road.

But, I'm leaving it unplugged because what it does cannot be good for the motor IMO.

Maybe I don't notice anything different because I'm still getting used to the change that the RapidBike EVO has made to the bike. That IS significant. Maybe after a while longer, I'll notice a change but, not so far at least nothing dramatic as some guys have posted.

Next up is a 14T sprocket that will be in my hands on Tuesday. Looking forward to that!

Just pulled the cable off mine and rode for 45 min. Seems to sputter a little less at low revs. Only difference I noticed.
