Hypermotard/Hyperstrada MRA Double Bubble Windscreen Mini Review

Hey all!

I had a few people interested in my windscreen on my bike and asked how it preformed compared to the DP touring screen. So I figured I would write up a little review on the MRA Double Bubble Windscreen.

Info about me:
6ft tall and 190 pounds

SO like most of us I purchased my Strada as a do everything bike so I wanted a functional windscreen for touring and my daily commute. The bike came with the DP touring screen (Private sale) and I was not into how long and skinny it looked. I took my bike on a trip a few days later and covered a good 3k miles over the course of 7 days. The first thing I noticed was how close the screen felt to my face and how flimsy it was. I was getting tons of wind on my shoulders and it was not doing a good job of pushing air over my head. After the trip I knew it was time to replace it.

I spend a bit of time looking for different screens and there really is not a whole lot of options. I almost bought the Givi screen but it looked way to similar the the DP screen. I then found the MRA screen on twistedthrottle.com. It looked funky at first, but due to the lack of options I gave it a shot. It comes in two colors I believe; clear & black (like really black).

Three weeks later (it was on back order from Germany) it was in my hands. The packaging was great and it came with all the hardware needed (New screen mount for fairing, bolts, screen trim and some stickers). The instructions sucked as they were 4 photos, but its pretty self explanatory.

So right of the bat I noticed the screen is not as tall as the DP but is much wider. It also covers more of the fairing on the front (lower than the DP). It also looks more upright from the side.

I was skeptical at first, but after reaching 80+mph on the freeway it was doing a great job. Not only does it move much, much less it feels stronger, pushed wind off my chest and shoulders. The wind hits my helmet right around the top of the visor, so its much more manageable.

SO overall I am very happy with it and think it looks pretty good! I thought I was only going to put it on for long trips, but I keep it on for daily riding too. I have so far logged about 6k miles with the screen and washed it 18+ times and it still looks great!

Here are some pics:

Hope this helped some members that are looking for a new screen!

Oh and Strider sorry for the late review! I know you have been waiting for a while.

P.S. ALSO if anyone is looking for some good cheap mirrors get some Kawasaki Z1000 mirrors... I put them on my bike and they are so much better than the OEM ones! You can really see everything behind you.

Just ordered one MRA all black double bubble windscreen last week from the A Vicious Cycle (owned by Twisted throttle in Canada). Happy to see that it seems to do the job! Will have wait 2 to 3 weeks to have it...
Thanks for the pictures by the way!

So you said the wind hits you just about the forehead. How is the wind noise? Any buffeting or blowing your head around?

It looks good to protect your electronics on the bars too!!!

Yes Just about! Which is worlds better than before. I only get buffeting around 90+ MPH...but that's what you get with a upright bike like this. From 75-80 there is no issues, its very comfortable for a hyper.

When it rains it keeps all the toys like a dry when moving!

Hi, Are these the Z1000 mirrors you refer to? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-R...5VRtag&vxp=mtr If not please post a link to the ones you used. My mirror got clipped by a people mover's wing mirror when they changed lanes on me Fortunately her wing mirror clipped my mirror which broke - fortunately they are flimsy plastic with no strength, if she'd clipped the handlebar it would have probably had more dire consequences A replacement Duc mirror is $280NZ.... If the Z1000 ones are cheaper and give a better view they are a no brainer. They look fine on your bike. Cheers.

I'm also interested in the Z1000 mirrors...did the ones you bought have convex glass, or flat? I would really prefer convex.

They look like them! My buddy had his stock 2013 z1000 mirrors sitting around so they were free 99 for me!

Also like to note that the stock Ducati right side mirror is counter threaded. So I took the second locking nut on the Kawi's off and it exposed a counter threaded bolt that fit right in. You can still use the existing locking nut to secure it down with no issues. This does mean that the right side mirror is about .5 inch shorter (See my 3rd photo). It does not bother me as the visibility is excellent...and they are CHEAP!

Here is a link to the Part diagram.... http://oemparts.chaparral-racing.com...81c1/handlebar

Good luck.

Part number is :
56001-0216
