Low tire pressure = flashing TC light

Managed to get a screw in my rear tire on the way home today. Thankfully I noticed before getting on the freeway. Two reasons:
  1. Ass-gyro
  2. Traction control light flashed when accelerating from a stop
I did a search and couldn't find anything on the forum. Going to dig into the press release to see if it's using the ABS or the TC signal to detect wheel-speed/torque.

Regardless, neato!

most likely the tire moved on the rim because of the low pressure, so the TC thought you had slippage and came into play

Makes sense. Although interesting to note that it only happened from a stop. Then again, that's when the force is at its max...

Interesting. Something good for us to keep in mind, in case we might have a puncture or leak that isn't otherwise yet apparent. I caught a drywall screw in the new section of the neighborhood when the bike was quite new.... made me very careful around areas with construction. That time it stuck straight out, and I could hear it - lucky that I didn't get any air leak. Anyway, much happier on the grippier Supercorsa's since then...

I have changed more than a few tires, and doubt very much that the tire moved on the rim. They grip that bead seat pretty firmly! If the tire was soft enough it would slip, especially crossing paint lines.

I picked up a 2" nail in my rear Dunlop, but it went in at enough angle that the steel belts turned it away. It was in 1-1/2"! Did not leak air, but I did replace the tire.
