I'm very interested if you get this to work...

It's in progress. Joe at Brandon distributing is waiting on getting some of the connectors that Ducati uses for the throttle position sensor.

Update:

Joe is still "fighting" with headquarters in Italy to get some of the OEM connectors for the throttle position sensor. He knows he can get them, it's just a matter of when. For those of you who have dealt with Ducati Italy, this shouldn't be anything new.

It's now been 5 weeks that my bike has been with him, and he knows that the riding season is going to be ending soon. He's offered me a couple options: 1) He can hold onto the bike until he manages to get the connectors he needs. 2) I can come get the bike back at my earliest convenience and bring it back once he finally gets them. 3) He can modify my harness to use different equivalent connectors. He would still wait to get the OEM ones for the systems he plans to sell to the public, so mine would be somewhat "special".

As a positive though for anyone that is interested in his kits once they are completed, he said it will be very easily installed. It will only requiring removal of the fairings/plastics. It will not require removal of the gas tank. He has already made a perfectly functional "proof of concept" harness that was tested on the centerstand, so the hard work has been done!

Have you decided what you're gonna do about your bike man?

Can you source one from a crashed duc? What models interchange tps connectors?

monocog007 August 12th, 2016 05:15 AM

Well thinking I'd have it back by now, I already scheduled the 18k valve adjustment and belt replacement at the dealer for the weekend of the 20th. He's 10 minutes from the dealer, and I'm 2.5 hours away. I'm thinking I might as well leave it with him at least until the dealer is done with it then.

I'm sure he could get a used harness and TPS, but that would get expensive, just to get 2 connectors.

I've been riding my monster in the meantime, but it does suck not having my hyper around. I didn't get as many miles on it this year as I wanted to. Hopefully the cruise gives me an excuse to take more weekend camping trips.

Another awesome update!

Joe finally managed to get some of the connectors he needed. After a week of communication with Ducati Italy, in very typical Ducati fashion, they have outright denied any possibility of selling him the connectors he needed, as well as not providing him any provider that he can source the connectors from. This is when Joe took it into his own hands and found a Chinese manufacturer that was willing to produce the necessary parts for him. After a prototype set of connectors were made and overnighted to Joe, my bike is finally ready to be assembled. Joe mentioned that the connectors he got from China were on par with the OEM ones quality-wise.

He's gonna have the bike ready to go by Friday, but will be unavailable this weekend to meet up with me for final debugging and testing. I planned on taking some time off work and driving the 3 hours to his place early next week so we can put the final wraps on the project and get some installation instructions written.

He got enough of the connectors that I'm assuming he will have some kits ready to ship very very soon. Looks like the dream of Electronic Cruise has finally come to fruition. :D
