Hot Seat!

A few months ago I sent off a new Race Seat to Renazco to work some magic on what was a pretty dang hard seat. Received the seat back and it is as expected extremely comfortable. An all day seat. However...a fair amount of engine heat is coming up through the seat, so much so that it is causing me to stand and squirm. Any suggestions on how I could resolve this? I was thinking of some type of lining on the bottom of the pan, maybe foil?

Try some thermotec heat barriers. Comes in self adhesive sheets or rolls.

Great looking seat.

They make some gold reflective foil you can cover the bottom of the seat pan with.

Thanks folks. I ordered some Thermo-Tec adhesive foil to cover the bottom of the pan. With the lack of flat surfaces on the pan I ordered some wide sheeting but also some narrow tape for the small surfaces. I'll let folks know how it works out.

I spoke with Renazco about this and they are making me a foil liner for the pan.

Not to be difficult, but would this raise the temp of the electronics under the seat?

I've been thinking about this and it's odd you have heat issues. The seat is protected from the engine heat by the fuel tank. I've never had any kind of heat issue on this bike. Are you sure it's related? Maybe it's the new material that doesn't breathe and gives you a feeling of heat coming through (or something).

From Jame Renazco

"We need to consider the following:A) Is the heat coming from
the motor which in turn is heating up the underside of the
seat?B) Is the heat related to lack of circulation?
Remember that the stock seat uses a closed cell foam, we use a
Visco-elastic type foam which aids incirculation. It may be the closed cell was not allowing as much heat to get thru the seat."

I actually get a fair amount of heat off the sides of the 939. Could be the Termi full system, not sure. I assumed the hot seat is coming from the engine as it begins after I ride a few minutes and I cannot figure out were else it might be coming from. I worry about heating up the electronics!

I'll put my stock low seat on and ride it and compare. I diffidently did not have this issue on the stock race seat.

What pants are you riding in?

Jeans or any textile fabric is going to let heat through in many cases.
I just did 4 days, 1400 miles, temps on two days 90 to 95F. Not heat issues with
my leather pants on.

With jeans I feel some heat off the pipe on right leg. I have a Termi pipe but the heat comes from the mid pipe I believe.

Beautiful SEAT! I haven't seen James latest work ... very impressive. Thing is,
I find the stock seat just fine. On that last ride I rode over 200 miles between breaks and did from 250 to 400 in a day.

No problems for me with the seat.
