New Kicks

Put a set of TKC 80's on today. Much better for the terrible DC roads. Also am going to start riding the country dirt and gravel roads outside of the city. Now if I can only find a skid plate.

Those tires do make these bikes look like beasts!

I've thought about getting a second set of wheels to have some of these mounted to. Just switch them out whenever I know I'll be headed off road. I do 99% of my riding on the street to make it worth running all the time though.

These things have made the terrible roads of DC much more tolerable. Also I was surprised how good they are on the open road.

TKC 80's are a great all round adventure tyre. I ran them on my Transalp 650 for years. When the OEM tyres died I replaced them with TKC 70's which I've been very happy with. Cheers.

Philthys streets are worse than the surface of the moon and after I put on my TKC80s I couldn’t imagine how anyone survived those streets on street tires

The TKC80S need to be scrubbed in for 125 miles on my HS before I can ride aggressively on the pavement with them.

Marty I know some really good dirt roads up by me if you ever come up north .
I’ll be working in the DC area soon too if you feel like showing me around down there

Also if you haven’t done so already you ought to change up one of your riding modes for off road
I used my touring mode because I never had any use for it .
It’s now set for TC off, ABS off, and the lowest engine power setting. If the surface is very loose I’ll put ABS on 1. This custom mode works well with the TKC80S on the types of dirt roads I find near me which are hard packed with loose gravel on top.

As for mud no settings changes help. This bike just sucks in mud so avoid it at all costs

I guess that's what the scorpion trails that came stock on my hyper are supposed to emulate (10%), but I only road a few packed dirt roads.

As a side note, I read somewhere (on this forum??) about the air filter box not making a tight seal and members reported having dirt/dust that made it past the air filter. Just a heads up if you'll be riding on dusty roads.

The TKC's do add some character for sure!
