Question : exhaust sound

Hello,
many years ago (>15) I had a Ducati Monster 600 followed by a ST2; both had deep rumble
So far I haven't seen or heard a real Hyperstrada mysef yet.- but when I'm listening to the available video's that sound isn't there.
This could be caused by the recording equipment.

How does the sound of a Hyperstrada compare to the older Ducatis ?

Best regards ... jef

HI,
put it this way the 1st day i got mine, the neighbors curtains were twitching across the road, to see what all the noise was about lol.
Sounds awesome and the popping when coming down the gears is glorious music.
It's not as noisy as my foggy rep with termi's on, but its still loud, don't know how Ducati get away with it, but i'm glad they do.

Thanks for the feedback.
I understand from you reply that they louder than 'average' but still not clear whether the deep rumble is present though.

Yes still a deep rumble, heads turn when going through towns at low speed.

Seriously, it's a booming stock exhaust. So much that I'm scared to change the can as I'm afraid my neighbors will shoot me when i fire it up for work at 0600. It will keep you smiling for a long time.

The factory exhaust has a thumping sound and here's my attempt at trying to explain the tone.. It sounds a corked dual sport bike. I wish this sounded more like my superbike but it's not going to have that lopey exhaust sound that comes from the more aggressive cams on the superbikes. The stock exhaust however is a straight through design, with the catalytic converter built into the slip on and a perforated tube with muffler packing. Revving in the driveway is quiet, but when on the road and the engine is under load the engine does sound like it comes to life.

The videos I found of the stock exhaust sound accurate to what it actually sounds like and I think that's because the lower dB allows the camera to capture it much better. Aftermarket exhausts are loud and tend to have a muffled sound on most recorders. Im waiting to find a exhaust I can be confident sounds good. But since the OEM exhaust is already a straight through design I dont think there will be that much a difference in tone unless headers, routing or dual exhaust is used.

I have FBF cans on my Cagiva Gran Canyon which has the air cooled 2 valve Duc motor in it and its louder than my Hyper with Termi's on it which is in turn louder than the stock can.

Thanks for all the comments - I have been listening to some videos again and indeed there is a big difference between the stationary 'sound checks' and when the bike 'under load'.
Some video's do have a better sound quality.
It is not the same sound as my older bikes but there is still 'grunt/rumble' present.

I have put alot of thought into the exhausts for this bike and none I have found are perfect. I always seem to find a flaw in them. In my opinion, the sound of your older bikes and the superbikes can be almost copied with a 2 into 2 exhaust. Check out the QD Dual

I think thats best tone but I dislike the appearance of the exhaust. What I really miss is the idle of a superbike. Difficult sound to describe, but in between the thumping of the motor is sorta ping sound that resonates from the exhaust. Hopefully you can understand what im talking about.
