My HS suffered this disco lights failure back in October. She's been sitting in the garage ever since due to being out of work and no money for the repair. To add insult to injury my local Ducati dealership went out of business so now I have no place to take her nearby. Next closest dealerships are 2.5 hours away in NJ or 3 hours away in central PA.

Once I get her fixed I'm going to have to sell her. I can't own a bike that doesn't have an authorized service center in my local area.

Maybe you can contact the dealer or DNA and explain your situation. If you feel up to it, maybe they can send the replacement parts for you to diy. But I would definitely call and start the process, as it should be covered. Then you can think about the next steps.

One other thought is if you have access to a vehicle with a hitch, you can rent a u-hall trailer for about $15 a day....just some thoughts...maybe you just felt like venting;0).

Venting, definitely. I'm pretty pissed with my HS since its forced me to ride this winter out on my Suzuki Savage which can't power my heated gear. So I'm a bit bitter from being bitter cold for the past several months riding the thumper.

I read that DIYing this repair was a non-option due to having to reflash the ECU in order to sync up the new dashboard. Did I read it wrong?

I'll probably offer my neighbor with the panel truck a case of beer to haul the bike to the shop next month. In the long term I'll definitely need a trailer hitch if I don't trade the bike in.
Seeing as a Moto Guzzi dealer opened up 25 minutes away from me I am tossing around the idea of trading the HS in for the V85. Might be a good move considering.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right about the re-flash, makes sense. I was just trying to get you out of your mood a bit and onto solving the problem....good move about borrowing a truck, the sooner it's done, the better and you'll a have far better ROI on your recently "updated by dealer" running bike. Good luck!

I'm finally back to work again so I finally have money to get my dashboard replaced. I have an appointment for May 18th to drop my HS off for service. I can't wait to get the girl back on the road again!

Then once she's back I need to take the Suzuki off the road to replace the fork seals, clutch and a couple other issues the last year of total neglect have caused.

Congrats! Once you have her back, remember to replace those coil packs:

Thanks! I’ll be sure to do that.
I may put a slipon muffler on her too. And later this year I think I wanna tackle the front fork diving problem as well.

I tried an SC Project slip on, I noticed a little better top end, or maybe it was able to rev up quicker, but did notice a drop in low rpm torque. I wish I could make the stock lighter, but I'd much rather have the low end grunt than gain a little up top. As for the front forks, welcome to the club! If it was one area where Ducati failed on the Hyperstrada, it was the front end suspension, and then the rear. But I have the Andreani cartridges on my Hypermotard, and I couldn't be happier with the price to performance ratio.

Keep us posted - the dash is usually a symptom - not the problem. My dash did the dance, but fortunately it was just a depleted battery. On the bright side - Ducati is pretty good with out of warranty repairs as long as all the "recalls" were done. Hope it all works out.

I still have to wonder how many of the recalls were recorded as done but not actually done. The last shop I went too made me suspicious of this.

I’m counting the days until I ride my HS again. As much as I enjoy the Suzuki Savage its suspension leaves alot to be desired riding it every day. My spine feels so compressed I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m a few inches shorter now.
