fitted a lithium battery, the OEM was struggling to start the bike after being left for a few weeks, got a a good six years out of the original and never had it on a tender.

Insane how much lighter the Li is over lead acid. I remember holding both of them like a scale and mouthing "wow" for like 10 mins.

But... could you actually feel it on the bike?

(Honest question, because the battery position on this thing is literally in the worst spot possible for weight distribution so my guess is that you would feel it?)

In a placebo sense, mostly. I mean, 5 lbs on a 400 lb bike is substantial. My mods are always grouped so can't say I directly felt a change. Maybe if I tracked it.

Anyone had problems with converting to a lithium battery...I believe Ducati donít recommend it...but the benefits seem significant. So, anyone out there have problems?

You will have problems with it, they don't like the cold.

I bought a Shorai Li about 2 years ago and its fine. I didnt notice any difference in the winter as well. But if you buy one the Shorai charger is a must. There have been many times already where I had the bike apart for 1-2months + and I left it on the trickle charge. And you will need it if the battery ever goes below the nominal recommended voltage 12.5v or under. The charger is a must to keep the battery health in good condition. Then the batt should last 5+ years. Also if it goes bad shorai has a decent warranty. I noticed an immediate difference in turn in speed after I made the switch to the LI batt. That stock acid batt is fkin heavy. And removing all that weight off the tail really made the Hyper turn like it should be. Switching the stock steel bars to almin and taking out those heavy hand guard adapters inside the bars also made turning wonderfully light.

Also, switching out the Taigene starter motor to a Denso one made the most difference with starting. No more chugging 3,4,5 times before starting. It starts even before you can hear 1 turn over. Gives you a lot more confidence now that the bike will start up every time.

Lastly, I took a ride with some Ducati Japan members and they took me for an interesting lunch. Raw horse meat donburi.#basashi #Sakura Niku.

I have to warm my Shorai up in the winter. I run the high beam till it cycles off (about 30 sec) twice. Minor inconvenience. Worth the beni's.
