Is there anything that can be removed from the stock exhaust to make it louder? I like the look of the stock exhaust so don't want to change it and don't want to pay $1,500 for the Termigonini. Any way to make it louder/breathe easier?

There is an italian guy, who manipulated the stock exhaust to receive a louder sound. Check Out the Result:Bearbeiteter original Auspuff Sound - YouTube |

There's a butterfly valve in the exhaust for either noise abatement and/or low end drive-ability. Most of the full aftermarket systems chuck this and I think they usually include an engine map update to trick the ECU to ignore it's absence. I think there was discussion of removing the catalyst but be careful as the decibels increase exponentially when it's opened up. Being in Cali, I would be hesitant of drilling out the packing. |

Also, why would you be hesitant of drilling it in Cali? My car is 10X louder than my Hyperstrada and I have never been bothered by police, if that's what you're suggesting. Well, maybe not 10x, but probably at least 3 or 4x. My car will peak at 120 decibels from 10 feet away when reving the engine at a stop. It's wicked loud and I love it. Would be kind of nice if the Ducati matched up. Kind of funny that my car is significantly louder than my motorcycle as it's usually the other way around. | |

Well, I guess if I recall correctly, you're in San Fran. From LA south, it is a fact that they will pull a decibel meter on you and inspect for cats and resonators. And don't you have to pass a smog check? I did loud as a kid and quickly grew out of it when I got pulled over just for being too loud. I'd much rather save the fines for when I really deserve it. And just being loud without a totally massaged motor is a quick lesson in back-pressure. And c'mon. On a daily driver, that cherry bomb drone rattling your fillings loose at 65 gets old really fast. I do reserve the right to be obnoxiously loud if you are in a pure performance chariot that will win 9 out of 10 times off the line. |
