I was thinking smaller plates made from the cutting board. Rethought the aluminum. I like the idea that it will be weaker then the bike and break off before metal will break. I would think from a strength standpoint it would be very solid.

I went onto Revzilla and bought the mount kits for Givi bags. I figure I will work with the plastic to cut it as small as possible. It still needs to be strong. I also want to make look nice when they are not on the bike. I'm not sure how that is going to work but I will take a few days to design it.

I got mine from here. They were like $50 shipped to my door. Perfectly sized, rounded edges, I just had to drill all the holes. They have all different colors too, which is perfect.

That is tooooooo funny. Same place I had found. For the sizes I want should be under $30 for the pair! I didn't see that they had colors. That's great!

Great minds think alike! Let me know how it works out. I ended up mocking up on one side with a small plywood sheet, and transferring the hole patterns to the cutting board.

I used a countersinking bit to clean up the holes, and use flushmount M6 bolts. McMaster Carr has the correct lengths in stainless steel for a decent price.

I'm going to work on this tomorrow. I have some throw away Kmart cutting boards. I am missing the bags but from what I can see the Trekker 33l bags don't pass the the bottom studs by more than an inch. I should be able to estimate the placement of the bags. This should be fun.

Okay, so it has been a while since I last posted. I have scraped the cutting board idea. I an not very good at cutting the material. With that said: here is what the Altrider luggage rack legislation oaks like on the bike.

I have bought two more racks. I am going to cut them with a Dremel so that they can be attached to the mounting points for the bike stock bags. I still have to figure out the spacers.

this is my plate, cost about 10 for the paint, bolts and nuts, alloy plate was a piece of scrap and I had the tanklock ring from a previous bike.
I also have a 26L Givi back box that I can fit if I need more space.
