Wow.. This was great info. I direct connect my ZUMO390 to the battery, which i don't like it because when i turn off ignition the GPS still charging. Will do some clean job direct connect to the GPS pigtail, hope work well for my ZUMO390.

Rutter, what did you come up with for the black box/transformer placement? Is there place enough behind the headlight to place it along with the rest of the cable?
Perhaps a photo how you did it?

I have Garmin Zumo 340LM.

This cable came with the GPS:

Its in there, perhaps not the neatest or roomiest of jobs but it is in there!

I'll try and grab a pic before the weekend.

I've attached 3 pictures, there is a lot of cable in there, so it is mostly coiled up and cable tied as best as i could at the time, its been on there a few miles now and hasn't come off and should be fairly easy to remove should I decide to do so further down the line.

Anyone not using a non Ducati Garmin kit will have to get a device like this to splice into the pigtail as you need a regulator the power output : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o00_s00

That's great, I'm assuming that the 340lm is a motorcycle gps? I'm using a Garmin Nuvi so I had to purchase this as it is meant for a car.
