Like any supermodel girlfriend, they are a pain in the ass sometimes.
You have four ducatis and date supermodels? That's righteous.

I had 10000 miles, went to big bend from St. Louis through Arkansas. Got back and experienced WTF? mode. So I'll go in for the fix. I just hate the dealer where I bought the bike and not looking forward to their attitude. They act like they're too busy for normal business ops. and their know it all suggestions are wrong. Like lube clutch cable with wd40? No thanks. Guy adjusted my clock in front of me said it's never been set. I say no it's 10 minutes fast. Proceeds to set the clock back like I don't know how to set the clock.
Sad. And mad I have to go in there, subject myself to their shit.
You guys like your dealership, experience any extreme unnecessary rudeness?

Is your dealer primarily ducati only?
There's another ducati dealer nearby who sells all kinds and I like that place. I bought my bike unfortunately at "the ducati shop" who sells some triumphs. So much attitude place gives me a headache. For recalls I got to go where I bought it. For everything else I go to the other place.

I have been to 3 Ducati dealers local to me. The first one, where I bought the bike, treated me like crap. Talked down to me. Shmoozed like dirty salesmen do. Scoffed when I asked for them to write something down. The next one was extremely friendly and accommodating, but left dangerously loose screws on my bike when performing a warranty repair so I had to go back and check everything myself. The last one has been mostly good. A little hard to deal with and slow/unresponsive at times, but they generally work with me and are friendly. It's really hit or miss.

Mine is a multi brand dealer, but Ducati is their flagship. THey also sell honda, yam, kawi, ktm. It's 3 miles up the road, and I have done some racing with the owner.

hey, i have a 2013 Hyper and at 1050 miles experienced the "limp mode" problem. ERRORS on dash, engine light, loss of power. Took the bike to my dealer Battley Cycles in Rockville, MD. They had no idea what I was talking about as this was the first instance of the particular problem for them.

They said protocol was to start a "U-Tech" (diagnostic assistance) with Ducati. (Basically they troubleshoot back and forth over the internet until they find the "smoking gun".

In the mean time Ducati issued this statement to me in an email:

Dear "my name",

Ducati Motor Holding S.P.A., after extensive testing, has determined that a potential problem with the throttle control on your Hyperstrada may exist. The problem may trigger the vehicle to enter an electronic safety protection mode. The resultant pre-programmed ‘recovery’ mode is designed to allow the vehicle to continue to be ridden, though the rider may notice a slight reduction in available power in certain instances.

It is important to contact your nearest Ducati Authorized Servicing dealer to have the throttle control checked and, if necessary, replace it with an updated unit which has proven to be more reliable. This operation is completely free of charge and can be done quickly. We ask you to book an appointment with your local Ducati Servicing Dealer.

We would also like to thank you for the trust you place in Ducati, and take this opportunity to send you our very best wishes.

The Ducati Service Team

With this information Battley determined the parts needed to correct the problem were the (1) Throttle Body, (2) Engine Control Unit and (3) Throttle Control.

These parts cost $2,901.59 luckily under warranty, which didn't really matter because this issue is listed on my invoice as a Ducati "Recall".

So for now the bike seems to run like new...stay tuned.

Ha, I have one Ducati at a time. I'm eyeing a second.

I don't date supermodels. :P It was a figure of speech; Whatever that means!
