I Ride: Haperstrada
Jerky throttle

I dont know if it is me, but when I ride 4000 rpm and bellow the engine is not smooth. Although I fix the throttle, I feel irregular pulse. I went to my dealer and they checked if there is any update for ECU there is none for mine.
I checked on web, some bikes have that issue, some say immobilizer or alarm can interfere with the ECU.

Has anyone suffered such problem? Is it normal?

Thanks,

I think you may be experiencing something very common to twin cylinder Ducatis. They do not what to run below 4000 rpm's. I notice the same issue, usually around 3500 to 4000. The engine starts to run rough like I'm lugging it. I try to keep the RPM's up and I have no problem. I'm use to large displacement bikes, which can be lugged down to 2000 RPM's and are very happy, while my Hyperstrada isn't happy under 4000 RPM's.

I get the surge at around 3500 to 4000. Half of my commuting to work is on city streets where it is noticeable. I'm going t to talk to my dealer when I get ready to take it in for service.

Think it's just design. Buddy has a new 848 evo and it hates sub 4K putting too.

it sucks if it is 2 cylinder Ducati engine, and no way to fix. I live in city center 30mph some places 20mph. It is worse when 2up.

thanks for sharing

I would suggest running in a lower gear moving it out of that RPM range or dropping a tooth on the front sprocket would do the same thing

Good point, Jer. Knocking a tooth out will torque it up some. Messing with sprockets was a very popular thing to do in crotch rocket land.

How many teeth can you loose before you have to change size/take links out of chain?

I think a 14 tooth is the smallest they make or have made for Ducs and I dont know that there is one available for this bike yet.

I plan on putting a 14 on this when I can I am assuming it has a 15 on it stock.

I dont know about these single sided swing arms and how much adjustment they have so I cannot comment about loseing links in the chain yet....
