How to remove the battery??

Hi, how do you get the battery out with the ECU on top? The service manual says don't disconnect the wiring (presumably to the ECU as the battery needs to be disconnected) and shows the ECU tilted towards the front of the bike allowing the battery out. How does the ECU disconnect? Does it just pull off out of some locating plugs or is there some mechanism or clip or something to release to allow it to tilt out of the way? I can't for the life of me see how

Hopefully I'll discover where Ducati have hidden my battery tender connection which so far I have been unable to locate

Thanks.

1) Remove the cables from the battery and bend to the sides. Be careful as the securing nut in each terminal can fall out and down.

2) Use pliers to disconnect the wire retainer from the catch, on the up & down rubber strap. In the alternative, remove the two little screws from the metal part the retainer connects to. Look at the strap close and you will see what I'm referring to.

3) Grasp the side to side rubber strap and pull it up over the ECU while pulling the ECU out of the way. No need to disconnect the wiring harness.

4) Pull the battery top toward the front of the bike.

5) Lift the battery up and out of the rubber pocket.

When installing the new battery, I coated the battery sides with foam soap to help it slide down into the tight pocket.

I just disconnected the negative battery terminal then removed the ECM.. Makes things easy. Just don't turn the key.

Did you get a battery tender installed by the dealer? Cause usually that cost is extra on top of the price..

Thanks. Thought I'd ask rather than continue with a brute force and ignorance approach and break something.

Umm, no. I thought they came with a battery tender connection to suit the Ducati battery tender... That would explain why I can't locate the plug for it.
