Removing bolt-ons before warranty work

What do you guys reckon? I'm having them check the piston 'slap' type sound most of you guys will remember from previous posts and I've got a slip on Akrapovic at the mo - reckon it's worth getting the OEM exhaust back on before I take her to the shop?

Likewise, I've got an oil leak - seems to be from round the filter but haven't taken off the sump guard to check. I've got an aftermarket steel sump guard; reckon the shop might gripe about that too?

I suppose it could even go for the aftermarket front brake lever and the fact the front M/C is leaking. How likely are they to point the finger at something you've done to the bike to avoid doing the work?

Any advice would be really appreciated. I've never had a vehicle new enough to have warranty before so this is all new to me!!

I would always air on the side of caution. Esp the brake lever.

Usually it's dealer dependent. If your local dealer is cool, then the report and photos to DNA won't show your aftermarket parts. If I were you, I'd be taking the bike as far back to stock as possible. Don't give them a reason to deny your problems. Also don't be afraid to contact DNA yourself. I had a claim for the seams on my panniers get denied. One phone call and a few long emails to DNA and the claim was approved. Hope this helps.

Really depends what it is. If it's easy enough, like the exhaust, I would swap it back in. If it's more complicated, maybe just make a judgment call depending on being realistic and your dealers attitude.

Why not take it off. I doubt it would make any difference but who knows. At least take the sump guard off so that the mechanic does not have one more thing to deal with. Removing others accessories in order to do your job can be a bit of a put off.
