turned off abs and dtc in sport mode

I turned it all off, its a whole new bike. Front wheel lifts easy and the back slides real easy. I am not a fan of all the electronics. It could be me but it seems to run stronger with everything off. The flashing abs is annoying, wouldn't you think if I turned it off the light would be off.

Does the Hyperstrada have the option for front wheel ABS only? That's what the setting 1 does on my SP. I can't think of a time when I would want my front tire to lock up.

Have you ever been in a serious accident or a near miss? I promise you if it's very quick and violent, you will grab both levers instinctively and not be thinking "oh, little front wheel lock...better lighten a bit."

If you actually make contact, hey, probably wouldn't have mattered. But the times when you can be lucky, front ABS will save you lots of money and painful debriding, or worse. For reference, I've been in many bike accidents and I'm very grateful for the standardization of ABS.

Seriously, I keep my ABS on 1 in Sport mode and do full force stops from time to time. The ABS activation point is no where near anything that would upset a mid-corner line. If you're worried about the rear brake...if you're finding the ABS point on this you're doing it wrong.

Comparing race cars/bikes has no merit if you are riding on the street. In a car, you lock em up and can probably save it by letting off the pedal. On a bike, bye-bye front tire under most circumstances - you're now scraping down the road. Sorry, I was a very dumb kid and after many years of analysis, ABS would have saved me from 75% of my mishaps.

This is my first bike with abs and dtc... I have had a lot of sport bikes over the years, non with abs. I have had the panic lockup a couple of times. I am not saying don't use it. I just never realized how often it must of been working and I had no idea. Its kinda fun lofting the front tire on take offs with just a heavy roll on, with the throttle.

That's the traction control stopping your wheelies, not the ABS. Turn it off and leave the abs on - it will be there when you need it.

It will do that in Touring/MED power with ABS 2. ABS does not affect its ability to wheelie.

Thatís precicely my setup for smooth dry roads. I ocasionally switch the ABS off to do some practise braking and emergency stops, but I never ride around with the system off Ė you never know when someone pulls right in the front of you.

I would welcome the "front ABS only" mode from Hypermotard SP, though. Itís a shame we canít have it, especially if you consider itís just a software function.

We've had this conversation long ago. I can do wheelies with DTC-3. It doesn't stop the front wheel from coming up.
