Front fender change for 2016

I'm not sure if this applies to the Hyperstrada, but it's worth taking a look.

So basically... I noticed rock chips on my fork stanchions... Yes, the slidy part that is supposed to be really smooth. The fork is supposed to have a protector or guard that keeps rocks from flying up from bikes/cars and putting nicks in your stanchions. The chips were very noticeable, because aluminum showing on a black background sticks out.

When you look at the front fender/fork guard, it doesn't cover the stanchion. Both at full extension, and on the inside near the wheel. It's more of an aesthetic piece...

Over the weekend I was checking out the new 939 SP, and noticed that they changed the design to provide full coverage. Huh.. what do ya know

Hyperstrada owners - does your front fender provide full coverage? I'm going to add a little flap of rubber or plastic to mine.

I Ride: anything I can get my hands on
The OEM fender on our Strada does cover the fork tubes. Looks like that bit of CF bling is the problem. Also, someone stole the front half of that fender!

But it's tons more protection than on the Sport Classics that Ducati sold. They had nothing at all on their upside-down forks! Sometimes style should bow to function.

Thanks for the info. So this doesn't apply to you guys, thankfully!

Welp... form over function yet again

I Ride: 2015 Hypermotard
Having a hypermotard as well I have found the missing front half of the fender annoying at times. Whenever I ride wet or muddy roads (seems to be frequent with all this darn rain in California) the spray ends up directly on the headlight. This is more annoying when day turns to night, or when you realize that you're not as visible with a dirty headlamp. I've considered getting a strada fender for that reason, but I'm lazy and primarily a fairweather rider.
