I grew up in Sicily and am moving back to Naples soon. Not super excited about getting my 18K service done in Italy.

Exactly the word I was looking for! I was in Milano for about a week in April, lovely place.

Okay, I finally have an update.

The good news: It's still happening.
The bad news: It's still months away.

Basically, the supplier I contacted manages to keep his prices low by doing a bulk shipment twice a year (think 40 foot cargo container full of motorcycle parts), and then distributing them here. This keeps the shipping/handling costs low. Unfortunately, it seems that when I had contacted him about the clutch he had just received a container that week.

We will be getting 2 kits in September as test units. One for me to try out and one for another person to try out. Just to verify everything is correct.

He is giving us the option to order them outside of his normal container shipment, which will add $20 to the price of the kit and must be pre-ordered 10 at a time. Thus the price would be $219. Otherwise, the initial pricing still applies and the bulk shipment will arrive in MARCH. Yeah.

Also, Italy is about to go on vacation for 6 weeks starting in August. So we would have to pre-order before the end of July.

Let me know what you guys think. I realize this is a long time to wait to save $200 now... If we still have interest I will find out how to pre-order through his eBay store.

Well I think I have to say that I'm out. I think I might rather sell the bike than wait til march to ride it without being constantly afraid of accidentally killing myself because I dumped this heinous clutch. I supposed I will concede and shell out the extra money as bayotte did.

As an aside does anyone have the exact dimensions/specifications of the parts we need? My dad had mentioned the other day about finding a company who can manufacture any Belleville washer for pretty cheap. I will look into the endeavor further but if no one can procure the specs for the spring/washer or the spacers its a moot point.

Did they not decide to offer Option 1? I'm fine to wait for the slow boat from Italy, unless there's interest for expediting the order and we're one short.

If we did get enough for a special order before end of July, when can we expect to get it?

Okay so I followed up again with some concerns regarding the timeline. I expected that few would want to wait 8 months for a clutch.

It looks as though if we pre-ordered before the end of July, we would have them by mid-September after Italy gets back from vacation. I think this is reasonable.

However, that is also the time that I expect to get the test kit to verify the dimensions and function is all correct. I have faith that the factory knows what they're doing, but it's still nice to verify before doing a bulk order.

Side note: I did verify that the Option 1 retrofit will still be available.

I'll keep you posted.
