Airbox removal

This is just so someone gets a google return that addresses how much a pain in the ass it is to pull the airbox out of a Hyperstrada.

1) there's a hose attached to the bottom that is not in the service manual. It ain't coming out unless you disconnect that. If you are lucky like me, the release for the clamp is all but inaccessible.

2) there's a wire plug attached to the bottom of the airbox that is not in the service manual. It ain't coming out unless you disconnect that.

3) It's possible you don't have to remove the heatsink and it's mounting bracket from the front of the box, but if you don't know about that 3rd hose that has no play you may identify that as the choke point.

End rant mostly.

So much about pulling the gas tank (tip, unscrew the plate that holds the seat lock, move out of way. Pop the battery/ECU out and the tank slides right out of the back) and nothing about the airbox.

No if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go take a little too much pleasure in cutting holes in that damn thing.

Why are you removing the airbox? I forget if that's part of the valve adjustment

It sure makes the valve adjustment so much easier to have the airbox out.

Installing the MWR power up kit requires cutting a hole in the top of the airbox and I didn't want to get plastic shavings everywhere... and since I'm also installing the Rapidbike I mistakenly thought it would just make things easier.

At least I can make clean wire runs now.

Bikes are built for masochists. Everything sucks to work on. Even you want something easy you got to find an old pick up truck.
