It does, and it describes the effects as being the exact same symptoms I had.

What made it confusing to me was that the problem always manifested itself in just one town, and always on that town.

We have some lengthy posts on fuel, canisters and filling. I'm gonna add some variables and holes to your theory:

- My canister "fell off" upon break in service at dealer. Think that was 600 miles no trouble on the couple fills I did with it on.
- Do you burp the tank? I fill to top of filler, jostle bike between my legs, level goes down 2-3 inches. I can usually do this 5 or 6 times before it won't burp anymore. Maybe only quarter gallon extra but that little bit has a placebo affect on my range anxiety.
- Even after burping, I have no reservation filling above neck line. Been doing this since first 1000 miles.
- Never had starting issues related to fueling.

I will say I don't think I've ever filled her then parked. My riding is typically commuting and solo, so always fill and go. However, if your filling to bottom of neck and parking on side stand, it should be burping itself. Pop the tank cap next time after filling and parking and I bet you have a couple extra inches of space.

Last time I filled it up then parked immediately after, I had a puddle of gas under the bike O_O

Now I know why they put the canister.

At $7/ gallon (Naples, IT), I'd probably start crying if I found a puddle.

I have never "burped" the tank; I just fill it up to the bottom of the filler and stop.

I think the reason why you haven't had any problems is for both the lack of canister now and the fact that you don't fill and park.

From now on I'll just fill up at the end of the stop.

Long term Update...

The issue never repeated itself since then.
Had the Canister removed a couple of weeks ago.

Had the 9k service done with new plugs and new air filter so hard to isolate any single change benefit...but MAN does the bike feel great now. At about 9200 miles and feels like a new girl.

The Count
