And you don't want to mess with it...in 2005 I saw a newish Monster that had a belt tensioning bearing fail, it turned deep blue. This caused the belt to skip a tooth or three and bent the valves.

How often are people cleaning the airfilter? My bike now has 8500 miles on it...... I do not think the last owner touched the airfilter.

We clean our airfilters a lot on our dirtbikes, but they are very easy to get to, as was my last two street bikes, vfr800 and Tuono Aprilia. This is insane to get to for the Hyper.....

I'm curious why the service manual says to replace the airfilter @ 18000 miles and then again at @36000. That seems like a shit load of miles!

Might be because it's almost fully shielded with plastic. It has a somewhat tiny rear facing inlet port to the screen. I think a year is plenty, though I'm approaching 2 yrs on my stocker. Gonna get the MWR HE kit as it opens up the airway considerably.

Is the K&N air filter replacement ok to fit without worrying about upsetting the mapping of the bike ?

So far, the only thing I've read that will throw a code is disabling 02 sensors without a tuner/flash.
