Shame on me for never at least attempting to turn DTC off completely. I got lost in all the early arguments over SP vs 'Strada and what settings could/ could not be nulled out. Honestly, I like electronic aids and it has personally saved me from buying a new left side at least once...maybe twice. I've reached that danger zone of "too comfortable" on my 'tard. Just dicking around in traffic today I fiddled with the R.Mode settings, which I haven't touched in 2 yrs (preferred mode is HIGH/DTC 1/ ABS 1). First time I thumbed DTC/ ABS to "OFF", hit "exit", and as I suspected, back to 1/1. More traffic, more fiddling, and I remembered to punch the "memorize" key. Hot damn if DTC didn't read "-" (off) on the main dash. Fawkin hell! The difference between "1" and "-" is pretty dramatic. First mild lean, throttle roll-on had me fish tailing for 20'. Still quite controlled, in that moto -esque soul in it's bones. I'm a bit of a hp junkie and you really feel all 110 ponies kicking when the trons are off. Plenty of meat on my PR3's and they were at temp. I did not attempt to turn ABS completely off. I may try for schnitz n giggle, but I think no ABS is plain stupid, especially with these Heaven-forged brakes. |

My settings are: Race: DTC off, ABS 1, Engine High Sport: DTC 2, ABS 2, Engine Medium Rain: DTC 5, ABS 3, Engine Low After having the DTC save me on 2 occasions while WFO through a sand patch, I've very grateful for that invention! If riding a clean, familiar section of road, turn that crap off. Otherwise, it's a nice little backup! |
