Greetings from Philadelphia

Helllo! Just got my 2013 HS 2 days ago and got out yesterday for a nice ride. Fell head over heels in love. It is still a bit cold here, but we were marveling that we could even ride in February - high temp was 42 F and was down into the 30's by the time I got home. I think I would like to add an extender windscreen and a handlebar mounted USB charger. Any comments yay or nay and or suggestions are most welcome. The heated grips help but are not enough for my fingers, I even used my heated gloves. What do you riders do for the fingers? Here is a pic of my girls ...photo loads upside down but it correct on my desktop!

Welcome and congrats on your new Hyper!
The big problem with riding this time of year is all the areas of excess salt and sand on the road. A few weeks ago while riding my Suzuki up a long curvy hill I hit a heavily sanded spot and started sliding sideways and slid right into the oncoming lane with traffic coming right for me. I managed to get the bike over to the opposite shoulder in time to avoid a head-on collision and got away with just being honked at by cagers instead of becoming a hood ornament.
Definitely enjoy riding as much as weather allows but be mindful that sand/salt is still very thick in places. Especially on curvy hills and then after heavy rains that same sand will be at the bottoms the same hills. If you ride the same road enough you'll notice the migration over time. That sandy patch will be in a different place from the last time.

Anyway I don't have any suggestions for the fingers except heavier gloves. I bought both heavy winter gloves and heated glove liners and it turned out to be overkill. The gloves alone do the job fine. If you want them I can sell you the heated liners. I only used them once.

Also someone here recommended thin silk gloves beneath your riding gloves and it works like a charm. I’ve been wearing them for two winters now and recommend it myself.

Thanks Mike, maybe I need to see what gloves you are using. I've good good thick gloves, an second pair that are heated , glove liners, and my fingers still get cold. Maybe I am just sensitive as in a wimp? Thanks for the advice on the salt and sand - I did see a lot when I was out and it did not really register any more than usual...good advice!
