I Ride: 2014 Hyperstrada
Thumbs up Hi from South Africa

Hey guys.
New around here but not to forums. I have just bought a new Hyperstrada (my 3rd Ducati) and I love it.
Really looking forward to some interesting discussions and chewing the fat in here.

All the best.

Andy

Hey R6
My first Duke was the classic 900SS, 2 valve oil cooled and bullet proof, this when I fell in love with them. I also had a 900 Monster which was great fun.

All told the Hyper is my 37th bike! Of all the bikes I have owned, be they Jap, Brit or American the Italians are my absolute favourite
Italian bikes have soul that is somehow built in, goodness knows ,how they do it, but they do.

She is a cutie. The right coat and color IMHO. How big is she? Ours is a standard male, got him from the President of the Dachshund Club of America! He weighs 35 pounds and is quite lean. We have coyotes in our neighborhood, so a mini is not safe. His "official" name is Candachs Bismarck of Ross, but we call him Otto.

Candy, the lady who bred him, is going to breed his sister if she ever finds a suitable male...and she agreed to send us a girl. Can't have too many Dachshunds...Otto is #5 in my lifetime. Candy still has six. They have truly unique personalities...quite German! Lest anyone take offense, I will point out that my Mom was Berliner.

Candy's vetting process was hilarious. She asked about our yard, how much we are at home, and then the kicker...

"Have you ever had a Dachshund before?"

She's a little girl, only about 7 kilos (or 15 pounds in old money)
My other guys is a lot bigger, closer to the 13 kilo mark.
No fancy pedigree names I am afraid, just plain old sausages

We don't really care about pedigree either; Otto is our first. But we could not find a standard locally, so we attended a couple of shows. Put our names and email out there asking for a black & tan male. A few months later we got an email with these pics. That was five years ago; Otto is the one with the green ribbon. Could you resist?

Otto was born cryptorchid, which was fine for us as we don't intend to breed him. That DQ's him from shows in the US, so we got him for a very reasonable price. I considered a prosthesis, but that was going a bit too far! And honestly, dog show folks tend to be really competitive - to a fault.

Give your doggies a pet from us. And if you really love dogs, you should check out "The Art Of Racing In The Rain" by Garth Stein. Bring a hankie...
