I Ride: anything I can get my hands on
Another great Sunday

A quick one...rode my Strada to breakfast at the Lookout with my friend Cam on the '09 R6 I sold him. Was my first time on a bike since my cataract surgery. Been more than a month. We left right at dawn, to beat the heat.

I'm seeing better than I have in many years. No more annoying glasses under the visor, either. I got the TC light to flash a few times on the first set of bends, and proceeded to leave poor Cam in the dust. The sunrise was spectacular, the roads empty, and I erased the last of the chicken strip on the left, down to 1/4 inch on the right. But the clutch finally got me...too many revs and too quick with the lever and Cam beat me off the line when we went after it once. I did keep up through a couple of gears. Got to a buck-thirty-seven indicated on my private test road.

I've been thinking really hard about an EBR naked, but the Strada will have to do for now. Maybe next Spring. Question is, do I sell/trade my Harley or the Strada? They are both baggers, and the wifey much prefers the back of the HD. I love my Ducati, but 182 hp and under 420 pounds wet...

I call it "living in the moment." When your confidence is good, and conditions are appropriate, nothing else intrudes on your consciousness. At my age, it's better than sex!

Had an even better ride last Sunday, did a full lap of Ortega (25 miles of twisties) and got a peg down for the first time. My riding style is smooth, so this is quite unusual (except for the footboards on the HD). I expect to do a track day this winter, so I've ordered some of these - lots cheaper than rearsets (and therefore expendable), still folding, and easy to change. If an inch is not enough, similar ones are available in 40mm offset.
