4300 mile trip east coast of usa

just got back from an epic trip on my hyperstrada and my friend on his nc700x

zero visibility on skyline drive

monsoon hurricane joaquin

rain on the blue ridge parkway

got down to the tail of the dragon... you guessed it, more rain. met some fellow enthusiasts from Canada. yes that is another hyperstrada in the mix.

we wanted to dry off so we went south and west away from the storm, nola!

the skies cleared up and we loved the bikes

this was 3k miles into the trip

overall the bike was great. needed a little more leg room, maybe a lower set of pegs or a taller seat. the wind screen was fine at 70mph in the north east with plenty of trees to block wind. in the states a little further west with open fields for miles the stock screen wasnt enough. the bike was getting pretty bad mileage as well. with the headwind i was seeing low 40s mpg. i think the next trip im getting better rain gear, better screen, a seat pad and a diff sprocket.

not bad for 4300 miles though.

Nice trip, I hope that you had enjoyed it a lot.

About the windscreen, I read about the one from Puig has better wind cover than the touring and OEM ones, but it's on my wish list yet

i loved all of it. the terrible weather sucked for a while but i cant wait to do another trip.
we ended up going to two motorcycle museums. one called wheels through time.
Wheels Through Time - The Museum That RunsWheels Through Time | The Museum That Runs
it was all american bikes. so much cool stuff. a lot of race stuff custom choppers and lots of bikes over 100 years old.

the other (by odd chance we found it by mistake) was ama hall of fame Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum

it was just an amazing time. got held up by the pope the first day down in philly. changed routes cause of the storm and found two problems with the bike. odd fueling issues between 5800 and 6800 rpms. the bike surges a lot. and the front brake pulses

Been on Skyline drive during the fog - worst driving of my life - never seen anything like it. I feel your pain.
One thing about the strada is that it's rock solid in the rain - never had a misstep.

Comfort wise, having the proper gear makes all the difference. With it, I find the screen and hand guards take enough of the edge off to make everything pretty comfy.

Try cleaning the front disks and see if the pulsing stops. Surging at 5800+ isn't normal, unless you're talking engine braking.

Sounds like a great trip. Any camp site info etc much appreciated - Vermont and northern NE is getting mighty cold and I'd like one more trip before the end of the season - south sounds good.
