Just like every year, there is a solid plan, then we end up riding a different ride because of circumstances. Forest fires have affected a number of years. Rainfall affects mostly spring rides. We used to come over in October until snowfall affected the passes too much.

The only difference between the length of the GS and the Hyperstrada is the added diameter of the front wheel. Thereabouts.

The seat to footpeg distance is similar too.

The Hyper just feels so much smaller.

OK, I'm interested. I have a mule tag in October. What's the window you're thinking of riding in? How many days?

I don't know about you guys, but I think state highways like this, and the 55 mph speed limit, are perfect for motorcycling bliss.

Or, even backroads like these with the 55 mph speed limit too.

Am I the only one who takes hundreds of ride photos on each long ride?

It's time consuming to carry real cameras, to take the time to stop and make multiple ridebys to get the best photo, but we all think it is worth it.

Why we also take the time on each ride to get "Captain Jack" photos with carefully aligned bikes.

The main Sierra passes are recognizable by most, it's the lesser known, and barely traveled, roads that are the most enjoyable.

I grew up in Modesto and we went up to the Sierra all the time. My father was a avid camper. In the early 60's that creek that runs up Sonora Pass was full of old Model T's and the like. For years folks would drive their old junk cars up the pass and run them into the creek.
